Meet Jassen Yep
Jassen has been a swimmer his whole life. Long before he could remember, his parents were bringing him to the local YMCA to swim, and he started club swimming at age seven. After a 'breakout' year his junior year of high school, Jassen was lucky enough to be recruited to swim at Indiana University, where he made steady improvements through his five years at the program.
Coming into his senior year at Indiana University, Jassen thought he would be done swimming after his senior season, and he was ready to move on to the next chapter of his life. However, that fall, Jassen found inspiration and joy through his teammates, and really enjoyed "the grind," and so he decided to use his 5th year of eligibility and return for one more season. Little did he know, this season would lead to him becoming the NCAA champion in the 200 yard breaststroke and becoming the third fastest performer in history in the event.
Jassen's journey is characterized by joy and passion. He chose to come to IU because he loved swimming and knew the program at IU could challenge him. He chose to take his fifth year because of a renewed passion for the sport. And Jassen can tell you how he raced at his last NCAA's with a freeing sense of joy and love.
